From October 20-26, 2013, the 12th International Student Film and Video Festival will be held at Beijing Film Academy.
ISFVF, Busan International Short Film Festival (BISFF) and American Film Institute (AFI) will launch the "special screenings" unit. This unit will show outstanding short films from BISFF and AFI.
Busan International Short Film Festival (BISFF) is the oldest Korean short film festival. It has been committed to focusing on new directors and short films since 1980. BISFF has 30 years of history, and it has become a quite influential international short film festival. We will be screening award-winning works from BISFF this year at ISFVF.
At 14:00 -17:00 on October 21, 6 award-winning works from BISFF will be shown in our medium-sized theater: “Jump”，“The Way Back”，“My Father’s Truck”，“Feral”，“Ephemeral”，and“Recollection”.
The American film Institute (AFI) is known as the cradle of American filmmakers. AFI was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Washington, DC. AFI is America's promise to preserve the history of the motion picture, to honor the artists and their work and to educate the next generation of storytellers. AFI provides leadership in film, television and digital media and is dedicated to initiatives that engage the past, the present and the future of the moving image arts. We believe our cooperation with AFI will promote an exchange of film culture, enhance intercultural communication and drive new progress between our student filmmakers.
At 14:00 -17:00 on October 21, 6 award-winning works from AFI will be showed in our medium-sized theater:“Wild Horses”，“Sequin Raze”，“113 Degrees”，“Wolfs from Another Kingdom”，“First in Flight” and “Samnang”.
At the same time, the organizing committee has invited 83 film student directors to attend this festival for a forum that will focus on “Cultivation of generalists and specialists in quality education”. Teachers and students will discuss and share their experiences of teaching. This year our film festival hopes to cross cultural barriers to better explore film education. We are creating a platform to promote interaction between film students from around the world, while at the same time also enhancing communication. We aim to create a space where student filmmakers from different countries will complement each other’s talents and make progress together.
The Festival hopes to build a film education platform which can cross cultures, promote mutual understanding between students all over the world, enhance communication and help students learn from each other and progress together.
